Auburn Reporter: Is there a backlash against mental health counselors? | Bishop - Auburn Reporter

Sure there is a backlash against mental health counselors. I mean you do work with the crazies right? I'm more concerned about the backlash against those with mental illness such as bi polar and etc. The ignorant people who target and discredit us with the label of bipolar are everywhere. I haven't had a days peace since I was diagnosed. I am not and have never been a danger to anyone other than myself and that is when suffering severe depression which often times is compounded by how I am treated by people who know I have bipolar and feel the need to share the info with the entire neighborhood, school, and even employers. I've lost jobs because of it. I've been an easy target to blame because of it. In one instance I lived in a crappy neighborhood where it was me a bipolar and a level 2 sex offender who was convicted of sodomy of his own kid and one of her friends and guess who the neighbors where most worried about? Well it wasn't the sex offender. If I was as crazy as I've been portrayed to be I would have totally lost it with these assholes who gossip and treat me like crap making others afraid of me. Why are we not a protected class. Because we sure as hell need some protecting.
